Meet our Millionths
Since 1988, OneSight volunteers and doctors have given the gift of sight to more than eight million people in need! Meet our millionths and read their stories:
In 1999, OneSight volunteers in Portland, Oregon, USA helped our 1 Millionth Patient, Jessica, age 6. Jess had terrible vision and was struggling in school. The minute she put on her new glasses, a huge smile erupted across her face!

In 2001, the OneSight Bolivia Global Clinic team helped our 2 Millionth Patient, Julia, a grandmother. After receiving her very first pair of glasses from our Clinic, Julia raced home to see the faces of her twin grandchildren for the first time.

In 2003, the OneSight Global team helped our 3 Millionth Patient, Gabriel, a 6 year-old in Ecuador. Never having received glasses before, Gabriel was now able to see to learn in school and play with his friends.

In the summer of 2005, OneSight volunteers at a Regional Clinic in up-state New York, USA helped our 4 Millionth Patient, Hanna, age 14. After three months without glasses and a very high prescription, Hanna was now able to see and was excited to get back to school to improve her grades!

In 2006, 11-year-old LaVonte became OneSight’s 5 Millionth Patient. Helped at a Regional Clinic in Chicago, USA, LaVonte was now able to see clearly to learn in school and play basketball, his favorite sport!

In 2007, the OneSight Thailand Global Clinic team gave the gift of sight to our 6 Millionth Patient, Victory, middle-aged Monk. Before receiving his glasses, Victory was forced to quit teaching. Now, he is not only able to resume his teachings, but has a much clearer view of the world around him.

In 2009, OneSight volunteers helped our 7 Millionth Patient, 17 year-old Mistie-Lea during a Regional Clinic in Australia. Mistie-Lea was having difficulty concentrating in school. Now that she knows it was because she couldn’t see very well, she’s eager to get back into the classroom and make a better life for herself!

In 2011, OneSight volunteers helped our 8 Millionth Patient, 35 year-old Marokey during a Global Clinic in The Gambia. Marokey works as a gardener and told Clinic doctors her blurry vision made it challenging to work, cook and thread a needle. With her new eyewear she can now see everything clearly.
