The OneSight Program:

How does OneSight differ from other similar organizations?

There are two main differences between our programs and other similar organizations. The first is our scale of operation. We have built a model for Global Vision Care Clinics to provide quality care and eyewear to approximately 8,000 – 15,000 people per Clinic. In 2013, we plan to run 13 Global Clinics helping thousands of people in need. Our Regional Clinics across North America are designed to help more than 1,000 children per week (20,000 for the year) and the Vision Vans help over 20,000 children per year in North America alone.

The second key difference is that our volunteer base comes mainly from Luxottica employees, affiliated and independent doctors that work with Luxottica, business partners and other close partnerships. This combination produces an unmatched volunteer-base skill set, passion and teamwork, enabling us to provide a high quality of care and eyewear to those in need.

What other organizations partner with or support OneSight activities?

In an effort to enhance the quality of care given during both Global and Regional Eye Care Clinics, we make every effort to partner with local ophthalmologists to accept referrals from OneSight Clinics. For example, last spring, we partnered with Vision Outreach International (VOI) who traveled with us to Paraguay and set up a surgical clinic at the hospital near the Clinic. This partnership resulted in over 250 patients receiving a referral from the OneSight Clinic for necessary surgical care to correct cataracts, glaucoma and other eye diseases. We plan to partner with VOI again. In addition to ophthalmic partners, we also team with other charitable partners such as the Lion's Club, Prevent Blindness, and many local charities to identify recipients for eye care services.

What is OneSight’s relationship to Luxottica?

OneSight is the global charitable organization of Luxottica, a global leader in the design, manufacturing, distribution and retailing of premium fashion, luxury and sports eyewear. Through OneSight, Luxottica employees and other trained volunteers share their passion for eye care and eyewear and their business expertise with those in need. While Luxottica generously funds OneSight overhead, we are a public a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Is there an expansion plan for OneSight?

The need is great. With Luxottica operations in 130 countries and 60,000+ employees worldwide, the potential reach for OneSight is considerable. To have our programs extending from corners of the world will result in more and more people in need gaining access to much needed primary vision care that otherwise may not be available.

How does OneSight determine who is in need?

Our volunteers do not select our patients. Instead, we rely on our local charitable partners to select OneSight patients based on visual and financial need. All patients are then referred to OneSight for free vision care and eyewear during Global and Regional Clinics and other OneSight outreach programs. Partner with OneSight today.

How can I help?

  • Make a donation.  Because Luxottica covers most of OneSight’s administrative expenses, 94% of your donation directly supports our vision programs – delivering vital vision care to those most in need.

Global Eye Care

How are Global Clinic locations selected?

Countries are selected based on a number of criteria including a large population of people who cannot afford or do not have access to eye care. We work closely with in-country contacts including Luxottica business partners, Lions Clubs International, Rotary Club and other organizations to manage Clinic logistics, hosting, safe transportation and other operational needs.

How can I participate on a Clinic?

Clinic teams are comprised of Luxottica employees, affiliated and independent doctors and Luxottica vendors who make a significant contribution to Luxottica.  We are always looking for local volunteers and donations of food, water and other supplies. Contact us for opportunities today.

Regional and Community Eye Care

How are Regional Clinic locations selected?

Cities are selected based on a number of criteria including a large population of people who cannot afford or do not have access to eye care. We work closely with local contacts including public schools and other organizations to manage Clinic logistics, hosting, safe transportation and other operational needs.

What eyewear is dispensed on Regional Clinics?

New eyewear is dispensed to all recipients in our regional programs. All recipients choose from a wide selection of donated frames.

Is the eyewear made on site?

Yes! During our Regional Clinics, volunteers on EyeVan, our state-of-the-art production vehicle, produce patient eyewear during Clinic hours. Our Vision Vans are an optical manufacturing shop on wheels with everything on board to craft eyewear enabling Vision Van recipients to receive eyewear before they leave as well.

Financials

How is OneSight funded?

OneSight is a public charity. While Luxottica is a generous contributor to OneSight, both monetarily as well as through the donation of goods and services, we rely on public support to run all outreach programs. Because Luxottica's support covers a majority of program overhead, 94% of public donations go directly to fund programs. Please make your donation today.
