Welcome to OneSight Europe
Volunteers in countries all across Europe participate in OneSightSM programs. At OneSight Europe, our main focus is to support Global Clinics in developing countries to provide free eye exams and eyewear to those in need. European volunteers support these Clinics through the collection, recycling and manufacturing of eyewear.
Global Eye Care Clinic Support
Each year, OneSight conducts two-week Clinics in developing countries where our doctors and trained volunteers provide free eye exams and recycled eyewear to thousands of people in need. To support 20 Global Clinics in 2009, OneSight needs to collect and recycle 1.2 million pairs of donated eyewear annually.
Eyewear Collection & Recycling
Donated glasses are collected by Independent Opticians across Europe. In Europe, all donated eyewear is sent to OneSight Recycling Centers in Agordo and Pederobba, Italy. Volunteers at these centers clean, categorize by prescription and pack all recycled eyewear to be hand-delivered during a Global Clinic. Typically, 40,000 pairs of eyewear are shipped to support each Global Clinic.
You can help! Bring your used eyewear (women’s, men’s and children’s prescription glasses, Bi-Focals and non-prescription sunglasses) to any participating Independent Optician. One Sight recycles donated used eyewear including:
- Women’s, men’s and children’s prescription glasses
- Bi-Focals
- Non-prescription sunglasses
Eyewear Manufacturing
In addition to collecting and recycling eyewear, OneSight volunteers also manufacture eyewear to support Global Clinics. Thanks to generous donations of frames and lenses by eyewear and lens manufacturers, OneSight volunteers, including Optometrists' schools across Europe, are able to manufacture difficult prescriptions to help a wider variety of those in need. Donate frames and lenses today.
Community Eye Care
With Community eye care, European volunteers search for opportunities to support their local community with eye care programs.
Preventative Eye Care
Preventative Eye care empowers European Volunteers to fund research and invest in the next generation of optometric professionals through scholarships and education.
