OneSight Global Eye Care
Each year, OneSight’s trained volunteers and doctors travel to developing countries worldwide to hand-deliver free vision care and eyewear to thousands of adults and children in need. Recipients receive a thorough optical exam by licensed eye doctors and eyewear is dispensed to all recipients (sunglasses are dispensed to those not needing a prescription). To provide the best quality, complete care, we also partner with local ophthalmologists or international doctor outreach organizations to perform optical surgery for those patients referred from our Clinic.
Our trained volunteers distribute both recycled and new prescription eyewear and non-prescription sunglasses during Global Clinics.
- Recycled eyewear is collected in Luxottica Retail and Independent optometrist’s offices around the world. Trained volunteers then clean and prepare the eyewear for Clinics at one of 12 Global Eyewear Recycle Centers in Australia, Italy and the United States. Two million pairs are needed annually to support our Clinics. Donate yours today at any of OneSight’s eyewear donation locations!
- New eyewear is manufactured at Luxottica plants to help fill more complex prescriptions during Clinics.
In 2010, we will conduct 15 Clinics in 11 countries, including first time visits to Burkina Faso, Benin and Ghana. To date, OneSight has completed more than 175 Clinics in 31 different developing countries, helping more than 3 million people. Check out our global giving map!
Meet Our Recipients
Imagine not being able to see to learn in school, hold a job, or perform daily tasks. Imagine not being able to see the faces of your loved ones or the world around you.
These are very real challenges for millions of people around the world who do not have access to, or who can not afford, vision care. See how we help change lives.
