OneSight Research Foundation supports optical research and education, granting more than $250,000 annually toward vision research focused on diabetic eye diseases and offering thousands of dollars in scholarships to students pursuing a degree in Optometry.
We are committed to preserving vision through our “See the CureTM” program. Through “See the Cure,” the Foundation funds research and treatment for diabetic eye diseases, in search of a cure for diabetic retinopathy – the number one cause of blindness in the US. To date, OneSight Research Foundation has awarded more than $7.8 million in grants to organizations committed to vision preservation. In 2014, to help those pursuing a Doctor of Optometry degree, the Foundation will award ten scholarships in the amount of $5,000 each through the Dr. Stanley Pearle Scholarship Fund.
Individuals who meet the following eligibility requirements are invited to apply: Students pursuing full-time graduate studies in an optometry program accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education of the American Optometric Association. Limited to students in graduating class 2015, 2016 or 2017.
The 2014 application and eligibility guidelines will be available through an online process February 1-April 15, 2014.
Since its inception in 2008, the Fund has awarded a total of $220,000 in scholarships to 110 students. The scholarship is named in memory of Dr. Stanley Pearle, founder of Pearle Vision, who believed strongly in education, leadership and community service.
