Donor Spotlight - FSL

Since 2003, FSL has been a significant and valued OneSight partner. As a vendor for EyeMed, Luxottica’s Vision Care division, their interest in OneSight was sparked by the enthusiasm and commitment that EyeMed consistently exhibits for the charity.

FSL is currently a major underwriter of OneSight’s Vision Van Clinics. The Vision Vans are one-stop optical shops on wheels. On the vans, students receive a comprehensive eye exam in the doctor lanes, select their frames and then watch the manufacturing process take place before their eyes. On a typical day, volunteers can deliver vision care and eyewear to about 70 students on each van.

To celebrate and recognize Fidelity's support, a Vision Van made a special stop at their headquarters in Kansas City September 14-16, 2010. FSL employees coordinated and volunteered on the van and organized local children to receive eye care. FSL’s hands-on approach is a shining example of their commitment not only to OneSight but to their immediate community as well.

Smith, Senior Vice President of FSL. “The entire FSL staff was particularly excited about sponsorship of the Vision Van and the opportunity to host a clinic for deserving children at our corporate offices.”

During the two-day clinic, more than 120 local students were helped. In addition to the great glasses they received, they were treated to a kid-friendly waiting area complete with coloring books and movies and they received gift bags that included KC Royals tickets and a bobblehead.

“Partnering with Fidelity Security Life and OneSight to make a difference in the community was a fulfilling experience for us that went beyond our day to day business relationships,” said Brian Haigis, Director of Claims and Compliance for EyeMed. “It was truly special to see FSL contribute its time and talent and to see its associates connect emotionally to such a great cause.”

In addition to supporting the Vision Van program, FSL has made generous contributions to OneSight’s Annual Fund and has been significant sponsor of Par for Sight.
