Day Seven
By Admin
Wow what a day…we literally blew into clinic today!!! We had tornado warnings and we even made a plan of where to meet up if one occurred…Can you believe it? Very exciting stuff…Many of us wondered if the children would be able to make it…but they did we saw almost 400 kids today and we had 80% of them need eye wear…We rocked it though and cranked out their eye glasses… Many of the children had a need greater than 4.00 or higher and several of them had never had glasses before… It will be a great day when they have their beautiful eyewear placed on their faces… They will be amazed at what the world really looks like J …
Tonight was our free night for dinner…one group went to Greek Town…we had an awesome dinner… Vickie from Iowa helped us order … we all loved it… Another group went to Chilies and yet another group went to California Pizza Kitchen…
Tomorrow night is our OneSight auction so we are really looking forward to that… We only have three more days of clinic left, and we are focused on finishing our clinic with a band J….

Greetings from Chicago…. Got Wind?
Clinic day 6 went awesome – the flow was amazing, the children were fantastic and the jams were pumpin’ in the lab. Chicago is an amazing city and I would volunteer here anytime. Dr. Mita rocks the Dr lanes and rocks the zumba just as well. Peace out from Angela, Edmonton, Canada Lenscrafters
Today went fantastic in the lab!! Lots of glasses being made, so it went pretty smooth. Eyevan is amazing! State of the art.. almost makes me want to switch from sunglass hut to lenscrafters haha!! Glad to share the thoughts! Lata!!!

Day Five of our Clinic
By Admin
Matt St Germaine here.
We had a great Friday to end this week. I was working in color and depth perception area. We had awesome help from the Lions club and got to meet with the Doctors in that room. When we finished that room I followed up into the tonometer room. The Chicago Public School volunteers were old pros on those machines. Thanks guys for all your help this week. We finished up with the lab and worked as hard as we can until 5pm. We had an awesome dinner back at the hotel and had to bid a fond farewell to Dave who ran Eyevan when Scott was doing other duties. We will miss you and thanks for all your hard work as well as everyone of the volunteers who dedicated their time off to help the children of Chicago.
Howdy from Joe,
Just completed week one of my first clinic. What an experience! The clinic team members have been great training me. Who could have thought a computer guy could learn to edge and assemble glasses? I’ve also learned to use optical equipment such as the tonometer and the autorefractor. Most importantly I’ve been able to interact with the kids. This is the reason we are here. A clinic is truly a team effort and this team has made week one very successful. Looking forward to our final week.
Hello from Gene Burbage,
I am so amazed at the team that I’m privileged to be a part of it here in Chicago. We’ve just finished the first week and we are spent. However, this is the best tired that I’ve ever experienced. We have helped so many kids and been impacted by so many super volunteers. I was asked before coming by friends, “How can you go on a trip where you know no one?” The answer became very evident by the end of day 1. Everyone has worked very hard and shown why Luxottica employees are the greatest. Thanks Onesight for putting together such an awesome team. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to make new friends from California to Boston to Canada. Way to go Chicago team.

Day Four

Day Four
Wow we are really in a groove now… We have completed four days of clinic and we are still going strong! Today we had 329 children complete eye exams of those 245 had a need for glasses. Can you believe that? Can you imagine not being able to see? We take being able to go to the eye doctor and get corrective vision aides… but many children throughout the world do not even know what the world really looks like. They don’t even know that they would be able to see clearly…. There have been several children this week that have a need for extremely high prescriptions that have never worn glasses before…when these children receive their eyewear just imagine how it will positively change their lives and the world… Remember OneSight works hard to change the world one pair of glasses at a time… So if you can please help support OneSight and our clinic team by going to this site and making a small donation… every dollar can and will make a difference!

Day Three
By Admin
What a busy day we had! We saw 431 children for exams today and the need for glasses was 367! That is an amazing 85% need! Everyone is working very well together and we have really jelled as a cohesive team!!! The volunteers here in Chicago are incredible and this clinic would not be able to happen without the support of the Lions Club and CPS (Chicago Public Schools!) .... We are all having an amazing time learning different areas of the clinic... We have had several children come through the clinic with very high prescription needs and finding that this is their first pair of glasses... How different their lives will be once they can really see the world around them! OneSight is such an awesome organization and they are doing such great things throughout the world... Remember you can help support OneSight and our clinic team by making a donation today.... just go to this link and support this fabulous organization that helps the world to see!...

Day One
By Admin
Day 1
The very first activity for us on day one of our clinic was to tour the entire site. We started on the 4th floor of the closed Thomas Jefferson school and ended up down on the first floor in Eye Van…. How excited we all are to start getting down to the business of helping children of Chicago see the world a little clearer! Today we saw:
Total Exams: 324
Total Glasses needed: 289
Go Team Chicago!
Imagine 289 school kids will be better able to excel and learn in school after they receive their gift of sight J.
