Wow..we just wrapped up an exciting first week of clinic. We have seen around 3500 people so far that were really in need of a pair of glasses. And as far as the team goes we are all working hard and pulling together so that we can reach out to everyhone in need.

In just a few short hours we seen about five hundred people. We had to cut it short due to an opligation with a local tv station doing a disable awareness progam.

China day one

Our China mission in 2010 began with a special opening ceremony hosted by the Qingdao Federation for Disabled Persons. We were honoured by the presence of several important dignitries who were so welcoming and grateful for the gift sight we were about to provide. We were also introduced to about 50 fabulous local volunteer translators to help us in this mission. After this warm welcome, it was down to business and by the end of the afternoon, we had seen approximately 450 people.

We each have a moment that makes our clinic and Dana had her's today. While dispensing, Dana was helping a gentleman who had been prescribed sunglasses and reading glasses. He was happy that we could help him, but as he worked as a calligrapher, the glasses weren't perfect for this work. Upon hearing this, Dana returned to the boxes of reading glasses and found a pair lower in magnification that allowed him to do his calligraphy at a longer, more comfortable working distance. Receiving these glasses brought absolute joy to this man's face and he has arranged to bring Dana a sample of his calligraphy as a special thank you.
