Dr. Pearle’s Memory Lives on Through Scholarship Fund

The OneSight Research Foundation continues its efforts to support optometrists of the future through the Dr. Stanley Pearle Scholarship Fund. In 2012, twenty $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to students seeking a degree in optometry.

“It’s exciting to be able to award deserving students with a scholarship in honor of Dr. Pearle’s memory,” said Dr. Jason Singh, OneSight Senior Director. “As the founder of Pearle Vision, Dr. Pearle believed strongly in education, leadership and community service – all traits we see year after year exemplified by our winners.”

Two time scholarship recipient Sunni Stewart is inspired by Dr. Pearle’s legacy saying, “I was humbled after reading Dr. Pearle’s book and completely determined to do good things. Optometry is my passion and the Dr. Pearle scholarship has made the financial strain easier to bear.”

To be eligible, students must be enrolled in a fully accredited college or university pursuing full-time graduate studies in an optometry program. Scholarships are based on scholastic performance and potential, and evidence of commitment to a career in the optometric profession and to community service.

Second, third and fourth year optometry students interested in 2012 scholarships can apply now through April 15, 2012.
