Luxottica Manufacturing Helps Give Gift of Sight in El Salvador

While most recipients received recycled eyewear during the recent Clinic in El Salvador, many received new glasses thanks to a partnership with Luxottica Manufacturing. The Mission Manufacturing program began last year to overcome shortages in specific prescription ranges needed by OneSight recipients in developing countries.

OneSight provides frames and finished lenses to the manufacturing facilities, which make the needed prescriptions. The finished product is sent back to OneSight to distribute to recipients. Since November 2009, the manufacturing facilities have produced 22,000 new pairs of glasses that are being used this year on Global Clinics. This is a huge win as OneSight continues to focus on providing better matched prescriptions to recipients.
