Research Foundation Doubling Efforts to Support Optometry Students
The OneSight Research Foundation is doubling its efforts to support optometrists of the future through the Dr. Stanley Pearle Scholarship Fund. Beginning in 2011, twenty $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to students seeking a degree in optometry each year.
“We’re thrilled to reward even more deserving students,” said Greg Hare, OneSight Executive Director. “We are impressed with the unmatched level of passion, enthusiasm, and intellect we see in the applicants. Their desire to learn, their leadership and dedication to community service are outstanding and exactly the vision behind the scholarship named in honor of Dr. Pearle, founder of Pearle Vision.”
In past years, 10 students were awarded scholarships to assist with their optometric education.
To be eligible, students must be enrolled in a fully accredited college or university that is an Approved Educational Institution pursuing full-time graduate studies in an optometry program. Scholarships are based on scholastic performance and potential, and evidence of commitment to a career in the optometric profession and to community service.
Second, third and fourth year optometry students interested in 2011 scholarships can apply now through April 15, 2011.
