Vision Vans Deliver Care Across America
Iris and Seemore, OneSight's hard working Vision Vans are scheduled to make more 30 stops this year across the nation, delivering critical vision care and eyewear to students in need. This year, OneSight was fortunate to receive generous corporate support for this program from long-time donor Fidelity Security Life Insurance.
The Vision Vans are one-stop optical shops on wheels. On the vans, students receive a comprehensive eye exam in the doctor lanes, select their frames and then watch the manufacturing process take place before their eyes. On a typical day, volunteers can deliver vision care and eyewear to about 60 students on each van.
OneSight Associate Manager Dawn Yager drives the 40-ft vans around the country. "Our vans allow us to address the needs of the children that our regional clinics don't reach," said Yager. "I love how the Vision Vans provide people with more opportunities to connect to OneSight. It's a great experience for everyone involved."
The Vision Vans play an important role in OneSight's Regional Clinic Model. They visit several different cities a week and they can be diverted at a moment's notice to provide vision services to victims of natural disasters.
To celebrate and recognize Fidelity's support, a Vision Van will be making a special stop at their headquarters in Kansas City in September. FSL employees will be volunteering on the van and organizing local children to receive eye care.
