Community Eye Care

In thousands of communities across North America, OneSight volunteers work with local charitable partners to provide free eye care and eyewear to those in need. To date, more than 3.57 million children and adults have been helped through these community partnerships.

In-Store Programs: People in need are served in several retail brands including LensCrafters, Pearle Vision, Sears Optical and Target Optical.

OutReach: OneSight volunteers often go out into their local communities to provide vision screenings, eyewear adjustments and cleanings to those in need.

Eyewear Recycling

Each year, OneSight conducts Clinics in developing countries where doctors and trained volunteers provide free eye exams and recycled eyewear to thousands of people in need. Donated glasses are collected at thousands of drop-off locations and are sent to a OneSight recycling center where glasses are cleaned, prescriptions are categorized and glasses are prepared to be hand-delivered during a Global Clinic. To support 20 Global Clinics in 2009, OneSight needs to collect and recycle 1.2 million pairs of donated eyewear annually.

You can help! Bring your used eyewear to any LensCrafters, Pearle Vision, Sunglass Hut, Target Optical, Sears Optical or participating Independent practitioner.

OneSight recycles donated used eyewear including:

• Women’s, men’s and children’s prescription glasses
• Bi-Focals
• Non-prescription sunglasses

Preventative Eye Care

OneSight Research Foundation supports research and education, granting more than $300,000 annually toward vision research focused on diabetic and pediatric eye diseases and thousands of dollars in scholarships to students pursuing a degree in Optometry.

Research Grants - OneSight is committed to preserving vision through its See the Cure^TM program. Through this program, the Foundation funds research and treatment for diabetic eye diseases, in search of a cure for diabetic retinopathy – the number one cause of blindness in the US. Optometric Scholarships - To help those pursuing a Doctor of Optometry degree, OneSight awards ten scholarships annually in the amount of $2,000 each through the Dr. Stanley Pearle Scholarship Fund. See the 2010 application and eligibility guidelines.
